As well as the creation of games, CGA also works on simulations for use in various industries. This means some of my time at the studio has also been spent helping to make these state of the art simulation suites. This simulation in particular was created to help companies assess the best locations to build LMF hubs, i.e. package delivery centres.
Some of the areas I focused on in this project include: the underlying logic and pathfinding for the delivery cars/bikes, segmenting maps into manageable zones, and the development of the spider tool. This tool allowed the user to select a road segment from which the map would be painted to show the user how long it would take for a driver to reach any given point on the map. This looked a bit like a spider's web, hence the name.
